Every year during Lent, we take part in something really special: the Courageous Advocacy Lent Challenge. Itโs a chance for each class to stop, reflect, and think about how we can make a difference in the world around us.
The journey starts with conversations. Each class talks about issues they care about, once theyโve chosen a cause close to their hearts, they come up with simple, meaningful ways to help.ย
The Courageous Advocacy Lent Challenge isnโt just about what we do. It reminds us that even small acts of compassion can create big ripples.ย
2025
Nursery
For our Lent challenge, we chose to smile! We are smiling at each other, because a smile can speak a thousand words. Smiles help us show kindness, love, and friendship without saying a thing! We’re also did kind things for one anotherโlike sharing toys and helping each other.
Reception
Reception have been learning about the important people who help us in our local community. As part of this learning, we wanted to show our appreciation to our emergency servicesโthe real-life heroes who keep us safe every day. We made and decorated thoughtful cards to say thank you and let them know how much we value their hard work and dedication.
Y1/2BR
As part of our Lent challenge, we wanted to let our light shine before others. We created a special Easter Trail for the Nursery and Reception children. Together, we took part in fun activities, helped one another, and shared smiles along the way! It was a wonderful experience for everyone.
Y1/2SARH
After hearing from Rev. Williams that the knitted display outside Greens Lane Methodist Church had sadly been stolen, we wanted to do something to help. So, we created cheerful pictures to brighten the day of the church community and bring smiles back to their faces. We filled our drawings with happy thingsโlike sunshine, rainbows, hearts, and smilesโto share hope, love, and kindness.
Y3/4MW
As part of our Lent Challenge, Y3/4MW focused on caring for Godโs creatures by building hedgehog houses. This year, weโve noticed several poorly hedgehogs on our school site, and we wanted to do something to help. We carefully placed the houses in the woody areas around Trinity site to give the hedgehogs a safe and sheltered place to rest and recover.
Y3/4HA
As part of our Lent Challenge, Y3/4HA chose to focus on our school value of Thankfulness. We have been thinking carefully about the people who make a difference in our lives. To show our appreciation and let our lights shine before others, we created heartfelt cards to say thank you. Each card shares why we are thankful for someone and aims to bring a smile to their face.
Y3/4JERH
The caring and responsible children in our class showed their kindness by nurturing seedlings and helping them grow strong and healthy. Once the plants are ready, they will be lovingly potted into ceramic pots and placed around our local community. Our goal? To brighten up the spaces around us and bring a little joy to everyone who passes by.
Y5/6LD
Y5/6LD decided to raise peopleโs spirits by enriching our local shared spaces.ย We focussed on our community garden, the quiet area and the area outside the building, near the field.ย We spent time tidying the areas and planting new flowers to make them look even better.ย We also did some general tidying to those areas so that we could let our lights shine for others.
Y5/6JC
Y5/6JC talked about ways we could bring happiness to others during Lent and decided to create Easter cards for elderly members of our communityโespecially those living in the local care home. Some of us had the special opportunity to hand-deliver the cards and spend a lovely afternoon with the residents, sharing smiles and stories.
Y5/6HG
Y5/6 HG discussed helping people in our local church community for our Lent challenge. We decided to ask if we could help out at Generate Lunch Club.ย We went down to church on two Thursdays โ Y6 one week and Y5 the next to help out. We enjoyed having our lunch and talking to the people from church. In class, we all made Lent bookmarks to share with the church community.
